Travel to Karnataka by Flight during covid-19 (18th July 2020)
Hello Everyone!!! I hope you are safe and sound :)
I am going to keep this article short and crisp.
I traveled by: Air Asia | Hyderabad to Bangalore | July 18th 2020

3 things are needed- e-pass from the destination state, boarding pass, ID proof
One has to have a mandatory e-pass from the Karnataka Govt. from here: https://sevasindhu.karnataka.gov.in/Sevasindhu/English (for all modes of transport including road/train/flight). Every state has its version of e-pass. For karnataka its found in the seva sindhu portal. The form asks personal details as well as date and mode of travel along with destination address. Make sure you enter your name as per your ID proof.
Web check-in is mandatory for airlines atleast 1 day before departure.
At Rajiv Gandhi Intl. Airport, Hyd, there was security and sanitiser everywhere. You must have your boarding pass and ID proof before you enter.
The dropping baggage procedure is as usual and they ask for the e-pass. Remaining procedure for carry-on luggage and screening is as usual. Only difference is you’ve to be at the airport atleast 2–3hrs in advance. All airport shops including KFC etc were open and there was not much crowd throughout the airport.
At the waiting area, we were given a kit by the airlines containing face shield, face mask and a few sachets of sanitiser. Indigo Airlines followed the same too. We were told the middle seaters would be given PPE kits in addition to the above mentioned kit however all middle seats were vacant in my flight.
My flight was scheduled for 2:30pm but we took off around 2:12pm! There were approx. 90 passengers on the plane. It was supposed to be a 1hr 20min flight but we landed at sharp 3pm. No snacks/drinks were served on the plane due to social distancing. The air-hostesses were all wearing PPE kits.
At Kempegowda Intl. Airport, we were asked to sanitise our hands and show our boarding pass as well as e-pass at every stage. We were asked to stand 6 feet apart while waiting for our turns. At the first stage, they screen you for temperature and O2 level. At the second stage they put two stamps on the back of both hands. The stamps contain end date of quarantine which is 14 days after date of travel.
After this you can collect your baggage and exit the airport. Uber as well as Airport Taxi is available.
On the same day, you will get a call from BBMP advising you to stay in quarantine for the next 14 days.
